Darren under the Brooklyn Bridge

Darren Paruolo: Resume

STATEMENT

As a painter I am constantly drawn to the visual elements we observe in our daily lives. The colors, textures, and compositions that can be found in both the natural and man made objects of our world are constantly providing influences for my work. I often find myself stealing from this wide array of visual stimulus and juxtaposing these images in works that I hope to be playful and contemplative as well as beautiful.

I have an appreciation for a wide variety of art and am interested in blending the more classical traditions of painting together with a more contemporary approach to modern art. Ultimately my main goal is to provide the viewer with at least a brief moment of an intense visual experience that can be both quiet and harmonious but at the same time loud with just a bit of tension. The same type of experience we can all find everywhere in our lives if we just look closely enough at the details.
